BEGINNING QUILTING
April 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Tuesday, repeating until May 21, 2024
Let’s Begin Quilting with the Log Cabin Square
The log cabin square traditionally has a red or some shade of red as its center to symbolize the hearth fires burning in the old fashioned log cabin home. Using traditional or contemporary fabrics, a lighter colored fabric is commonly used diagonally on one half of the square to contrast to the other side using darker colored fabric. Once you start making the squares, it is hard to stop! Students will learn about the tools – using a rotary cutter and rulers, the terms – fat quarter, nesting seams, piecing blocks and sewing 1/4 inch seams, while making the log cabin squares for a quilt, wall hanging or table runner. A supply list will be sent out after registration. “Start Quilting with Alex Anderson” is a great reference book for Beginning Quilting.
