OPEN SEWING STUDIO
Summer sessions – Margi Varnum
Need help finishing your skirt, your vest, or your
trousers, or want to start a new project? Get help with
fitting, construction methods, and finishing
techniques that will make your garment unique.
Please call to register by 5pm the day before class.
MONDAYS, JUNE 2nd – JULY 28th.
6:00-8:30pm. Fee $15/session.

IMPROVISATIONAL QUILTING WITH JAPANESE FABRIC
1 session – Cheri Wilkins Find your Wabi-Sabi… the quintessential Japanese aesthetic. Leave your preconceived ideas about color and perfect piecing at home. Work with unusual fabrics, cut without templates, experience new and surprising color combinations to create a small quilt top that differ from your expectations. Although the focus is on using antique Japanese fabrics (available at PFC,) this creative technique can be used with almost any fabric combination. SATURDAY, JUNE 7th. 10:00-4:00pm. Fee $50.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY GARDEN PARTY
Enjoy learning different techniques such as curved piecing, applique and quilting in the hoop, free-hand machine quilting with the Bernina Stitch Regulator and more while experiencing the features on a variety of Bernina machines. BERNINA SOFTWARE/MY LABEL/DESIGNERPLUS TRY BEFORE YOU BUY CLASS
Learn about the NEW MY LABEL 3D Fashion Pattern software which modifies patterns according to your measurements for a beautiful fit. See how you can design unique garments personalized to fit you and then look at them in 3D. Review the innovative features of the Designer Plus/Editor Plus V5. SATURDAY, JUNE 21st . 2:00-4:30pm. BEGINNING SEWING
5 sessions or 2 sessions – Carla Clarke or Margi Varnum This hands-on class covers sewing basics including pattern and fabric selection, pattern layout and pinning, cutting, fitting, interfacing, construction techniques, seam finishes and more. Students will complete a garment and should have some previous experience with their sewing machine. (Bernina sewing machines available during class.) WEDNESDAYS, JULY 2nd – JULY 30th. 6:00 – 8:30pm OR SUNDAYS, JUNE 22nd & JULY 13th. 10:00-4:00pm Fee $75.

APPLIQUE LANDSCAPES
1 session – Jo Diggs Techniques for using layering to create illusions of space and distance, effects of color shifts and simple perspective will be presented. An actual landscape will be cut andlayed out in demonstration, then sewing order and stitching directions will be given. Students will design their own landscapes from help given in class. Any ability level. Hand stitching, no machine necessary, machine applique optional. SATURDAY, JULY 19th. 10 – 4pm. Fee $60.

BABY STRIPS
1 session - Ann Bishop
Baby Strips from “Fons & Porter’s Easy Quilts” is a
great inspiration for a baby quilt or a regular size quilt.
Easy and fun with a bundle of coordinating fat

MACHINE QUILTING TECHNIQUES
1 session - Debbie Heffernen Drop your feed dogs and try your hand at freehand machine quilting. Also come experience the unique Bernina Stitch Regulator! We will review basting, stitching in the ditch, stipple quilting, stitching on paper, walking foot, threadplay and specialty threads, quilting methods for large and small projects and batting choices! You should be able to drop the feed dogs on your sewing machine. SATURDAY, JULY 26th. 1:00-5:00pm. Fee $35.

OPEN EMBROIDERY STUDIO
1 sessions – Julia Follett Come to class with any embroidery project that is challenging you or if you just want to get started embroidering! Enjoy expert advice as you forge through to new embroidery horizons. Half day class 10-1pm or 1-4pm. SUNDAY, JULY 27th.
10:00 – 4:00pm. Fee $28/session, $18/half day.

CAMP SEW FUN
4 sessions - Elayn Chesser This fun class will teach the pleasures and creativity of home sewing to kids from ages 10-13. The activities and projects completed in this class are designed to build sewing skills and develop confidence. Bring you own machine or sew on a Bernina. Students may sign up for one week or two! MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS, JULY 28th –AUGUST 6th. 10:00-12:30pm. Fee $ 70. ($35/week.)

OPEN CAMP SEW FUN
4 sessions - Elayn Chesser This class will be a follow up for any student who has taken Camp Sew Fun and would like more time to work on projects. Bring you own machine or sew on a Bernina. Students may sign up for one week or two! MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS, JULY 28th –AUGUST 6th. 2:00-4:30pm. Fee $ 70. ($35/week.)

FLOORQUILTS
1 session - Katie Campbell Try a new craft that combines patchwork quilting and floorcloth painting and turn your favorite fabrics and quilt patterns into durable, walkable, art! Floorquilts require no sewing and no previous experience. In this demo class you will learn everything you need to know to make one at home. What a great way to use up all those wonderful scraps. See the “Floorquilts” book by Ellen Silver, kits, and sample online and at the shop. THURSDAY, JULY 30th. 6:00-9:00pm. Fee $35.

WEEKENDER TOTE
Enjoy making this tote by Penny Sturges from all your wonderful scraps or the new Hoffman batik “Bali Pops” 21/2 strip batiks. Quick and easy strips embellished with decorative stitching if you like. See the tote in the online gallery or at the shop. SUNDAY, AUGUST 3rd. 1-5pm. Fee $25.
